Hey, hold on! You cannot say that!
Well, I can when it is true. And I can prove it is true.
So, who is Dr. Mark Felton(PhD)?
Let’s have it from the horse’s mouth.
From his YouTube channel:
“Born in Colchester in 1974, Mark gained his PhD at the University of Essex where he lectured in history before spending nearly a decade teaching in Shanghai, latterly at one of China’s most prestigious colleges, Fudan University. He also organised the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal for Eastern China, and was an education instructor for the Peoples’ Liberation Army.
Mark was involved with many historical and World War II commemorative projects in association with the British Government and Ministry of Defence including his discovery of the lost graves of four British servicemen killed in Shanghai by the Japanese in 1937, a story which hit the headlines around the world.”
From his website:
“Dr. Mark Felton is the author of several acclaimed books, including the recent hit Zero Night (“The story of the greatest escape of World War II has been told for the first time” – Daily Mail) and Castle of the Eagles: Escape from Mussolini’s Colditz, both of which are currently being made into movies in Hollywood.”
From wikipedia:
“Mark Felton (born 1974) is an English author, historian and YouTuber. Felton has written over a dozen non-fiction books. He runs several channels on YouTube covering different historical subjects of the 20th and 21st century, mainly related to World War I, World War II, and the Cold War. Felton has been a lecturer at the University of Essex and at various universities in China. He has also been featured on television as a military history expert. In 2014, he published Zero Night, a book about the 1942 mass allied escape from the German prisoner-of-war camp Oflag VI-B.”
Impressive, right?
Darn, well, that is impressive. The man has hundreds of videos on YouTube, has written a dozen books, and sports a PhD to boot. He has also lectured at universities.
Then why call this guy a piece of shit?
Bear with me.
On the 30th of April 2025, Dr. Mark Felton(PhD) released a video on YouTube called:
“Hitler’s Real Grave May Still Exist! 80th Anniversary Special”
In this video, he postulates the extremely speculative theory that Hitler, who killed himself on that day eighty years before, might have been buried in a mass grave that is located where now a parking lot is instead of his corpse having been destroyed by the Soviets.
Note that extremely speculative are his words, not mine.
If this extremely speculative theory holds water, that is quite the reveal. You can bet that the location he names in his video would turn into a shrine for the jackboot types overnight and cause Berlin a lot of trouble.
You would then expect that Dr. Mark Felton(PhD), with his extensive background as a historian, would be extremely careful to support this extremely speculative theory with extremely good sources and have it extremely well peer-reviewed by his fellow historians before making it public.
Does Mark Felton(PhD) show any evidence in the video that he did? Does Mark Felton(PhD) link to an article that he released in an academic journal? Does he show us any feedback from other historians in that field? Does he show he followed the peer-review process?
Mark Felton provides nothing of the sort.
Nope.
Yet, this merely makes Mark Felton questionable and unprofessional, but not a piece of shit.
The aforementioned is questionable because Mark knows damn well how the historical process works. After all, it is his work. And it doesn’t involve releasing an extremely speculative idea in a video that lacks proper sourcing and isn’t peer-reviewed.
So, does Mark give a damn?
I doubt he does.
Just consider this. Who releases this extremely speculative and controversial theory about the whereabouts of this mass murderer’s remains on the day of the mass murderer’s death as some tribute to an anniversary, without going through the peer-review process? Who would do this even if it had been grounded in the peer-review process? On that day of all days?
A piece of shit.
But to add insult to injury; the reason Mark is even more a piece of shit is because when he is called out for not following the peer-review process he suppresses this criticism. This dude likes people to praise him for his shoddy work, but doesn’t like any criticism, because he knows it is shoddy work.
He knows very well that this theory can’t stand up in any peer-reviewed process when he submits it to a journal, because if it could, he would, but instead, he throws it out on YouTube. And damn the historical method. And damn the consequences.
And because he doesn’t give a shit, he is one.
Now, let me just underscore how much of piece of shit he is.
On the death day of possibly the worst mass murderer in history, he puts out an extremely speculative video about the whereabouts of this miscreant’s remains, as if he just found a fantastic discovery that will benefit us all, lacking any proper sourcing or feedback from historians.
The mass murderer has implemented a system that killed millions, has caused untold suffering, and has wrecked entire countries. And there are still idiots who idolize that guy, think he did a good job, was misunderstood, and they would finish the job if they could. These guys won’t hesitate to make pilgrimages to where his remains might be, and Felton just put out the idea and pointed at the place. Here he might be, guys! Now go and hold your parades. And these idiots and many of his fanboys only need him to say it might be true to act as if it is true.
Felton could have released anything else. Anything. He could have picked another day. He could have picked another medium. But no: he needs to have his flight of fancy released on that day, regardless, and he deliberately ignored the historical method. He knows what a shitty thing it is to do, but he did it anyway and that makes him truly a piece of shit.
And if that isn’t enough proof for you, then remember his involvement with the Established Titles scam. Look it up if you don’t. Felton advertised them. He made money promoting that scam. Did he apologize for promoting a fraud (like other YouTubers did)? Nope. Did he retract the videos or remove the advertisements? Nope. Could he even be bothered to place in the description that ES was found to be a scam? Did he donate his ill-gained gains to a good cause? Did he even say anything about it? Nope. Nope. Nope. This man doesn’t own up to his mistakes and take action to correct them.
And now you know why.
